I’ve heard many residents say, and I agree, that the city and the current city council are not doing enough to solve the problems that our residents feel are important. Problems such as traffic are “studied” but never fixed. Solutions proposed by the city fall short of what Alexandria needs and seemed designed to give our residents no real choice. Additionally, the city council seems to take its direction from city employees and/or developers instead of setting the agenda on behalf of our residents.
The best conclusion that one can make is that the city council are just not good at the job they’ve been given, which is one of leadership and oversight. I believe that my years as an executive have left me with the ability to do better, and I would like the opportunity to serve you and the rest of the community.
